About Phyllis Lapi
I have had a life long love of creating art.
For many years I painted primarily in watercolor. In 2013 I shifted my focus to pastel. I started taking classes with Joan Balder Cook and have continued my education in pastel with nationally know artists Kathleen Galligan, Doug Dawson and Jacob Aguiar.
My work has been in numerous juried and regional shows and galleries including the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts annual juried show, Cooperstown Art Association annual juried show, Saratoga Arts annual members shows and The Arts Factory annual members show.
My Gallery affiliations include the Smithy Pioneer Gallery, Cooperstown NY, the Cherry Branch Gallery { no longer in business } and Picture Perfect Fine Art Gallery, Canajoharie NY.
An exhibition of work as the featured artist at the Micropolis Gallery in Gloversville, NY was scheduled for May but has been postponed due the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am the co-owner of Picture Perfect Fine Art Gallery in Canajoharie, NY and my work is currently available for sale there.
l was honored last year to receive an individual artists grant for my project “One Farm Three Families 150 years” an exhibition of 12 paintings depicting the life of my families farm through the decades. Saratoga Arts made this program possible with an Individual Artist Grant funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature
